Fake Powder is a glitch where the player can use the Cane of Somaria and the Mushroom to trick the game into letting you use the Magic Powder without actually having the item. This can also be done while actually having the Magic Powder if the player is out of magic.

Execution

To perform this glitch:

1. Completely empty the magic meter.
2. Use the Cane of Somaria and immediately menu after you hear the no magic error sound.
3. Swap to the Mushroom (or the Powder) and then after closing the menu you should automatically use Magic Powder.

Uses

This can be useful to sequence break the Magic Bat item and to get a health refill from an Anti-Fairy.

Note

Unlike using the Magic Powder normally, Fake Powder does not stop Link's movement. This allows you to activate powder before you have reached your target as long as you get close enough before the animation finishes. This is significant in how it essentially eliminates having to time the powder cast with an Anti-Fairy's path. You can activate Fake Powder while still too far away, then move into the Anti-Fairy during the animation.
