The Checkerboard Cave is located in the Light World Desert of Mystery, but accessed via the Dark World and thusly requiring the Magic Mirror to warp back to the Light World. You'll need the Flute to flute to 6, Titan's Mitt to lift the rock, and the Magic Mirror to warp back in the correct location to access the treasure.

Naming

It's named after the pattern of the movable blocks inside the cave.
