No Logic is a logic level where items are placed completely randomly, without placement rules. You are allowed to use many different glitches. Certain situations may be difficult to resolve, but unbeatable seeds are exceedingly rare.

In the ALTTPR Racing Ruleset, No Logic allows all glitches except (underworld) Exploration Glitch, underworld Swim Clipping, Underworld Fake Flute, and arbitrary code execution. You are allowed to collect crystals from the wrong dungeon using crystal duping.

Frequently used glitches include:
The Dash Citrus or Dash Clip is a 1-Frame Clip that allows you to clip through leftward diagonal slopes in the underworld with the boots.

In Major Glitches and No Logic modes, some common uses are:

* Hera to Swamp as an alternative to the bomb clip
* Mire to Hera without moving the wall

Select buffering
Some of the inputs that Dash Citrus requires are frame-perfect, so it's commonly done using select buffering.

When the select menu is on screen and you press A, B, X, Y, or Start to close it, you have a moment while the menu disappears to buffer your next input. If the input is a direction that doesn't include "down", you can even hold the direction for as long as you want before closing the menu. With the right timing, you can use this to move for 1-2 frames and then immediately pull up the select menu again. If you press select too early, the benign result is that you don't move at all and the select menu comes back up.

Clipping
Dash citrus begins with Link facing the slope flush with the bottom wall, two light pixels visible between the bottom of the shadow and the wall seam. In Hera, this is coordinate 0E8F, 05C0.

After this, move 3 pixels upleft, then start a dash and pause. In Hera, this is 0E8C, 05BD.

Buffer the dash until Link has moved twice (0E84, 05BD). His hat will be flipped up and there will be one light pixel below his foot.

Switch your buffers to upleft to cancel the dash then allow Link to move once or twice (0E83, 05BC or 0E82, 05BB).

Once in position, buffer a clean downleft to teleport down.
Mirror wrap is a Major Glitch that lets you access locations in the middle of overworld screens by hitting transitions from the wrong side. To perform a mirror wrap, start flush with the transition and press into the transition and mirror on the same frame. This will trigger a mosaic effect and put you on the other side of the transition. When you hit the transition from the other side, your screen will scroll until you are in the middle of the screen you originally started on.

Uses
* Turtle Rock laser bridge
* Ice Palace
* Stumpy without moon pearl
* Mire Shed without moon pearl
* East Death Mountain without moon pearl, hammer, or mitts

Transitions can also be hit from the wrong side without using mirror with similar effect:

* Ice Palace flippers wrap
* Magic Bat

The Overworld Glitches ruleset allows for many major glitches which may be performed on the overworld. Overworld glitches are not permitted in a No Glitches race setting.

The Overworld Glitches logic requires the use of the following major glitches:
* Out-of-bounds clips
** Basic clips including Teleports
** Spinspeed Clipping: Using Spinspeed to clip
* Pyramid Fairy Early
* Ice Palace Mirror Wrap
In addition, the logic also requires the use of the following minor glitches:
The teleport is a common overworld glitch that moves you a certain distance north or south from a south-facing diagonal slope. It is often useful for getting on top of a ledge.

A common setup for the downward teleport is to buffer movements with the boots to clip to a particular pixel on the third bump from the bottom of a slope, then buffer a movement into the slope (down+left or down+right).

You can learn in detail how to teleport from baliame's overworld glitches tutorial.
A Major Glitch is a glitch which is considered too game-breaking to be allowed in the No Major Glitches ruleset.

The Major Glitches ruleset allows for the use of major glitches to skip items. Major glitches are not permitted in the "competitive" setting of the ALTTPR Racing Ruleset.

The Major Glitches logic requires the use of all of the glitches in the Overworld Glitches logic, as well as the following:
* Underworld Out-of-bounds Clips
* Fake Flute
* 1-Frame Clipping
** Citrus Clip

Specific applications which are required (this is not an exhaustive list):
* Death Mountain Ascent
* Death Mountain Descent
* Turtle Rock Climb
* Ganons Tower Clip

There is an additional set of glitches that are also considered major, but are not allowed in this ruleset. These glitches are allowed in No Logic or banned in all modes.
Hybrid Major Glitches (HMG) is a racing mode that adds some underworld OoB clips to Overworld Glitches logic.

HMG follows the Major Glitches rules of the ALTTPR Racing Ruleset. It is not a distinct ruleset, but a different logic for generating seeds. Compared to the Major Glitches logic that the main ALttPR website uses, HMG minimizes the need for 1-Frame Clips.

The following clips can be required by HMG logic:

* Kiki Skip
* Mire to Hera
* Hera to Swamp
* Ice Palace lobby clip

Other clips are allowed in HMG but out of logic:

* Hera to Sewer
* TT to Desert

In the Major Glitches ruleset, you can enter Palace of Darkness in cave state using Kiki Skip.

In the No Logic ruleset, you can straightforwardly bring cave state to:

* Eastern Palace, via a Stairmaster from Spectacle Cave or Super Bunny Cave, also with Hookpush.
* Palace of Darkness, via Kiki Skip.
* Skull Woods, via east Hookpush from Uncle.
* Thieves' Town, via a north subtile YBA or Hookpush from Uncle or Stairmaster form bumper Cave.
* Ice Palace, via a north subtile YBA from Kakariko Well.
* Misery Mire, via Overworld Conveyor from Ether Tablet.
* Turtle Rock, via north Hookpush form the Old Man Cave.
* Ganon's Tower, via a subtile YBA from Hookshot Cave, or east Hookpush.

Megaroutes
A "megaroute" is a route in No Logic that visits multiple dungeons in Cave State, allowing you to open doors and collect items in many dungeons besides the four above.

The defining example of a megaroute uses two bottles:

* Uncle
* YBA to Thieves' Town
* clip to Desert Palace
* YBA to Misery Mire
* clip to Tower of Hera
* clip to Swamp Palace

A smaller megaroute (kiloroute?) requires only one bottle:

* Spectacle Rock
* Kiki Skip to Palace of Darkness
* YBA to Tower of Hera
* clip to Swamp Palace

An extravagant megaroute if you have three bottles:

* Uncle
* YBA to Thieves' Town
* YBA to Eastern Palace
* YBA to Misery Mire
* clip to Tower of Hera
* clip to Swamp Palace

Follow the links to the dungeon pages for details on how to perform each of these transitions between dungeons.

Routes wanted
With the routes described above, you can get to any dungeon in cave state except <strike>Skull Woods</strike> and <strike>Turtle Rock</strike> (using hookpush). If you know such a way, please fill it in, or maybe let arborelia#9268 on Discord know about it so she can do so.

Small Keys
In normal gameplay, you will neither pick up or spend keys in cave state, but if you reach a dungeon room via a major glitch, you may interact with keys.

The number of Small Keys you have when you enter a cave is 255 (, the largest number that can be stored in 8 bits). This signals to the game to hide the number of keys in the HUD. The first thing you should aim to do is spend a key to open a door, leaving you with 254 keys (which will show up as [glitchy red line]4 in the HUD).

If you pick up a Small Key that increases your key counter -- a key drop, a key in a chest in non-keysanity, or a "this dungeon" key in keysanity -- it will increase your temporary number of cave state keys. The worst case is that you have 255 keys and pick up another, which wraps around to 0. This leaves you with no cave state keys (until you re-enter cave state and have 255 again) and also uselessly removes the key you collected from the world.

After you pick up a key, the game caps your number of keys at 99. So if you have 254 or fewer keys and you gain a key, you will then have 99 keys, which is still more than enough. As long as you have spent a key, you'll be in no danger of overflowing to 0.

Big Key
There is no "cave big key", but there are four big keys that can be used as the big key in cave state:

* Hyrule Castle Escape
* Palace of Darkness
* Thieves' Town
* Ganon's Tower

If you have any of these Big Keys, you can open Big Key Doors and Big Chests in cave state.

If you pick up the Big Key of the dungeon you're in while in cave state (including the "big key of this dungeon" in keysanity), it will be useless. The Big Key it was intended to be will be gone. If you can't accomplish everything you'd need that key for, you may want to hard reset.

Malmo!5674:

Fake Flute is a major glitch that is one of the possible effects of Yuzuhara's Bottle Adventure (YBA).

Overworld Fake Flute
Overworld Fake Flute is an overworld glitch that can be very useful for getting around in the dark world.

If you drink a blue bottle at exactly the moment you screen-transition in the overworld, you pull up the flute menu. You can flute to any of the usual locations.

In the Light World, this is just a replacement for having the flute. In the Dark World, the location where you land will be in the Fake Light World, because you're in a Light World location but the Dark World is loaded. The next time you make a screen transition, you will end up in the corresponding place in the Dark World.

It's particularly useful to use Fake Flute when you're in bunny form because you don't have the Moon Pearl. When you land, you will be in Super Bunny mode. You can dash, use items, and attack things with your invisible sword, but you can't sword-dash. Be sure not to bonk, hop down, or take damage, because if you do, you will lose Super Bunny form.

You can convert from Super Bunny mode to normal Link mode by grabbing a pullable overworld object, such as a tree or statue. Because of this, the most common places you'll Fake Flute to as a bunny are:

* Location 3, where you can walk toward Bumper Cave and grab the tree there
* Location 7, where you can walk east and grab the center statue

Once you do that, you can navigate the Dark World overworld as Link. However, you only get to go inside once. When you come back outside, you will be stuck in bunny form.

It can be helpful to have full health (and non-full magic) before you fake flute, especially when fluting to 3, so that you can attack enemies with sword beams.

Example: Fake Flute to 7
The most typical place to set up fake flute is this screen transition on Dark Death Mountain, because it's one that you can easily reach as a bunny. Transitioning left is easier than transitioning right, because you move 2 pixels left on the first frame, giving you a 2-pixel window to line it up.

Select your blue potion. Make sure to have less-than-full health or magic, so that you can drink it. Line up at the left edge of the screen, so that one left input will transition the screen.

Press left and Y at the same time to activate Fake Flute.

<gallery widths=256px heights=224px>
fake-flute-2.png|The flute map, but with dark world colors
fake-flute-3.png|Choosing spot 7 lands you here in the Fake Light World
fake-flute-4.png|Going east takes you to the dark world, but with light world tiles
fake-flute-5.png|Grab the statue to become Link (you don't have to finish pulling)
</gallery>

This provides you with access to outdoor locations like the digging game, Stumpy, and possibly the pyramid and the catfish. You can go inside somewhere like Hype Cave, but you'll come out as a bunny.

Underworld Fake Flute
Underworld Fake Flute happens when you drink the "wrong" potion for a YBA during an underworld screen transition: a blue potion on a subtile transition, or a green potion on a supertile transition.

Underworld Fake Flute will take you to the flute map, and you can choose a destination to flute to. You will land in an overworld location while the game's code still expects you to be in the underworld. The result takes you to the Plaid World, a world of glitched overworld and underworld tiles where many things will hardlock your game. Plaid World is a major glitch that is not allowed in any randomizer racing ruleset.

There are multiple ways to hit the switch from here, but placing a bomb on the wall above the switch is the easiest. Backtrack to pengator room from pre-icebreaker room to collect the item if full clearing. You can save a few frames walking below the pressure plate.
The Mire to Hera clip is a major glitch that allows you to bomb yourself through a wall in the west side of Misery Mire, and reach the fairy room in Tower of Hera. To bomb clip, start a dash flush with the left blocks and bonk on the south wall, then dashturn to face right and throw a bomb without moving. The bomb clip method requires boots and a bomb to execute. It also requires a fire source (lamp or fire rod), because it will only work if the torches have been lit to move the wall in the next room. If lacking either, you can Citrus Clip or Dash Citrus on the left slope.
The Dash Citrus or Dash Clip is a 1-Frame Clip that allows you to clip through leftward diagonal slopes in the underworld with the boots.

Setting up the clip

Sewer door deletion, or throne door deletion, is a major glitch that removes the shutter door on the back of the throne in Hyrule Castle. It's usually done as a prerequisite to dungeon ID swapping.

You delete this door by copying the state of the big key door in the Tower of Hera over it. You have to have opened that door first, or else the door you copy will still be closed.

Deleting the sewer door is an effect that persists when you save your game.

It can be accomplished by two methods: using the Somaria Door glitch, or using two bottles for two YBAs in a row.

<gallery widths=256px heights=224px>
Sewer-door.png|This is the door we're deleting
Sewer-door-success.png|It still looks the same, but you can walk or run right through it
</gallery>

Somaria method
In the somaria method of sewer door deletion, your goal is to Door Juke the transition by holding the somaria block, then Somaria Door by pushing the block over the transition.

You should hit a star tile, and not open the select menu, before performing this glitch. That will prevent heavy VRAM corruption from being one of its effects. The glitch still works if you don't take this precaution, but you'll have to save and quit and then hard reset, and also it might crash a Super NT.

To start, face the door and throw a somaria block into it. Move a bit into the door and pick up the block.

Once you're somewhat into the door, you can tap up to snap to a lower position, and you can throw the somaria block to the left to bounce off the door frame and get it deeper into the door.

<gallery widths=256px heights=224px>
Sewer-somaria-1.png|Preparing to throw the block
Sewer-somaria-2.png|Now you're in the door a little bit
Sewer-somaria-3.png|You can throw left for the next step
Sewer-somaria-4.png|Tap up to snap
</gallery>

When you're deep enough in the door, you'll snap into a position where you can hold up the block and only see the block, not Link, as shown above. From this position, don't throw the block left anymore -- you'll throw it over the wall.

You need to get still deeper to juke the door. Face up, throw the block, move exactly 2 pixels down while the block is in the air, and pick up the block again.

An effective way to move exactly 2 pixels is to boots-buffer twice (tapping down and A at the same time) while the block is in the air.

Tap up while holding the block. You should end up in a position 8 pixels lower, where you can see half of the block. You have now juked the door -- you're past the transition.

Now you need to get back above the door transition while the block is below it. Face up, throw the block, and boots-buffer up once.

Pick up the block again, and don't press a direction -- that would snap your position again, and undo what you did. You should be able to see about 3/4 of the block sticking out of the door now.

Throw the block (without pressing a direction), and wait for it to land. Then tap down. If you hit a star tile earlier, the screen will scroll down a little farther, and you might see some light visual corruption -- you can mirror and go on with your game.

If you didn't hit a star tile, you'll get heavy VRAM corruption, and then you should save and quit and hard-reset the game. Either way, you did the glitch, and the effect will be saved.

If you get not-quite-as-heavy VRAM corruption, where you can still see the select menu and the graphics are normal after saving and quitting, it may be that you forgot to open the big key door before copying it with this glitch, or pushed down from the wrong position. Or it may be that you hit select before the glitch, which you should avoid.

<gallery widths=256px heights=224px>
Heavy-vram.png|This is fine. Save and quit and then reset to get your graphics back
Weird-medium-heavy-vram.png|I haven't figured out quite which situations cause this, but it usually means I failed the glitch
</gallery>

Two-bottles method
Bring two red bottles to the Tower of Hera so you can do two YBAs. You won't have an opportunity to take damage or use magic in between.

Make sure you're not at full health. Move until the door (by holding out your sword or boots-buffering) until you're on the bottom pixel you can be on. On the Link sprite, two rows of Link's hat are visible.

Equip a red potion, and press down and Y simultaneously. The screen will fade to an ellipse that's mostly off the bottom of the screen.

A side effect of a downward YBA is to Door Juke you past the door transition, so now you need to back up to line up for the second YBA.

Carefully tap left or right until you reach this position. You can't see Link, but you can tell by the way the camera moves. A row of lighter pixels on the doorway -- the second from the bottom of the screen, which is the third from the base of the door -- should be the bottom pixel on your screen. If you overshoot by one pixel, it's okay.

Do a YBA again -- select a red potion, and press down and Y simultaneously. The screen fades out again.

You won't be able to see the effect, but if you successfully did the two YBAs, the sewer door will be deleted. You can mirror out or save and quit, and go on to do the glitch you're deleting the throne door for, which is presumably dungeon ID swapping.

Unfortunately, you only get one chance at the second YBA.

Somaria Transition Corruption (STC) is a way to cause glitches by pushing a Somaria block through a door.

This technique is sometimes called "Somaria Door". It's different from a Door Juke with a Cane of Somaria, but sometimes performed at the same time.

Depending on the circumstances, effects can include:
This technique is sometimes called "Somaria Door". It's different from a Door Juke with a Cane of Somaria, but sometimes performed at the same time.

* Underworld Out-of-bounds Clips
* Fake Flute
* 1-Frame Clipping
** Citrus Clip
Specific applications which are required (this is not an exhaustive list):
* Death Mountain Ascent
* Death Mountain Descent
* Turtle Rock Climb

SpeckyClip
SpeckyClip is a rail clip similar to Herapot. It allows one to bypass the Hammer requirement in Swamp Palace. It also avoids the need to unlock the door to pull the stalfos dam switch. This also allows one to skip grabbing the key, skip unlocking the door, and skip pulling the dam switch. Even when entering Swamp Palace with the Hammer, performing this trick saves significant time due to skipping a key and cutscene. To perform the trick, one must use a Bomb Boost to clip 1 pixel into the corner of a rail and Hookshot to a statue.

Execution
To perform the SpeckyClip, the Hookshot and 1 bomb are required.

Walk up the stairs leading to the locked door. Walk to the right against the right rail. Face down against the bottom rail and place a bomb. You should be aligned against the right and bottom rail when the bomb is placed. Then face left and walk all the way left to the rail directly south of the locked door. Hold out your sword. This still works with no sword as the purpose is to allow you to walk backwards while facing left. When the bomb explodes, walk backwards into the bomb explosion. You will be launched into the corner of 2 rails causing you to clip one pixel into the rail. Switch to Hookshot and Hookshot the statue. Simply walk down to complete the clip.

There are 2 commons mistakes people make while doing this clip:

#Not walking all the way to the left rail after placing the bomb.
#Walking back from the left rail and waiting for the bomb explosion in a position between the bomb and the left rail. Do not do this. Wait at the left rail and do one continuous walk from the left rail and into the bomb explosion.

Making either of these errors can lead to subpixel issues and cause failure of the clip. Aligning to the left rail and waiting at the left rail solves potential subpixel issues.
History
;February 3rd 2020
: A tool-assisted method to get past the rail in Pool 1 of Swamp Palace without the hammer was discovered by Yuzuhara that used a Door State Extension (Fairy Net Dash) to partially clip into the rail and then making precise movements to fully clip through the other side. Due to the complexity of the method, and RNG elements required from the net-dash, this method was never considered to be RTA viable.

;June 7th 2023
: A runner by the name of SpeckySpecks posts a video in the ALTTP Randomizer Discord server showing how to clip through the a rail using a method similar to that of Herapot.

;June 23rd 2023
:The ALTTPR Racing Council votes to not legalize SpeckyClip for use in "Competitive" Ruleset races.

;July 28th 2023
:The ALTTPR Ladder decides to allow SpeckyClip in all of its races.

;September 6th 2023
The ALTTPR Racing Community (TARC) completes a community vote to allow the use of SpeckyClip in "Competitive" Ruleset races. The measure passes with 263 votes to allow (85%) vs. 48 votes to disallow (15%)
