The chest sprite is for the chests in the ending cinematic being picked open by the man. It is not for generic chests.
The red pendant sprite is used in the cinematic for pulling from the pedestal. It is not the one that drops from the boss nor the one in the menu.
The SNES rounds RGB values down to the nearest multiple of 8. This page does the same for accuracy.
